After Amitabh Bachchan, David Beckham, Michael Schumacher, Donald and Ivana Trump, Bollywood actor 42 year old Shah Rukh Khan, is the hottest icon to cross the threshold of the UAE's real estate market with a property development off Ras Al Khaimah. The Dh8-billion project on Dana Island off Ras Al Khaimah coast which, according to Shahruk will extend his home to others. According to analysts, the proposed project is believed to be lighting the torch towards a correction in UAE's real estate market.
Shahrukh Khan Boulevard is scheduled for completion in 2012 with contemporary homes including specially planned studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments and townhouses. However, unlike other developments, where celebrities who lent their names for a royalty, Khan said he is involved in the project and would like to have a home in it. Mr. Khan comments that this venture is a serious business for him and will be eyeing on profits.
An international team of designers and architects will soon start the work on the master plan. Developed by the TSA Group, Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard will grow to be the part of the well-built, premium living environment of Dana Island, which will in due course of time will be the address of more than a few world-class hotels in UAE, a shopping centre and commercial complexes spread across 6.3 million square metres.
The project is being designed by Los Angeles-based designer Tony Ashai of Ashai Design Corporation. According to Ashai, the entry to this development will be through a glass-gate followed by a boulevard with retail outlets and residential complexes. In the middle, there will be a boardwalk, a public square on the beach with open movie theatres, where people could watch movies via bluetooth.
The boulevard will have twin towers in its heart; each floor will have one apartment with a single lift transporting residents to their residences. The Shahrukh Khan Boulevard is currently in the abstract stage and in depth designs and cost assessment is also not fully completed at this stage, leaving the industry curious.
