Nakheel has unveiled plans to build Nakheel Harbour '&' Tower, a new community in Dubai with a tower more than 1000 meters high and the world's only inner city harbour. The launch was announced at an event which was attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman of Dubai World briefed him about the various features of the new venture. Nahkeel harbour project will cover an area of more than 270 hectares providing home to more than 55,000 people, a workplace for 45,000 more and attract millions of tourists each year. The tower will emerge in the heart of new Dubai, focussing on creating a true community, a prime location for life, work, relaxing, entertaining, art and culture. The said project is inspired by Islamic design; geometry incorporates elements from great ancient Islamic cities like the gardens of Alhambra in Spain, the harbour of Alexandria in Egypt, the promenade of Tangier in Morocco and the bridges of Isfahan in Iran.
Nakheel Tower will have four individual towers within a single structure - a revolutionary engineering act. A unique crescent-shaped podium encircles the base and complements its remarkable height. None has ever dared to attempt a development of this nature and scale. it is just another example of Nakheel's innovative projects that has changed the looks of Dubai truly following the Nakheel slogan - ' Where vision inspires humanity.
The Nakheel Harbour & Tower development reduces car use and promotes metro, bus and water transportation. An absolute transportation hub unifies into the harbour area with metro transportation combined with a unique water transport interchange, with Abra and Dhow station links.
Sustainability and safety will be the key factors of planning and design of Nakheel Harbour '&' Tower, with the hottest standards and technology integrated with the development.
This multibillion dollar development will include 250,000 sq m of Dubai hotels and hospitality space, 100,000 sq m of retail space and huge expanses of green spaces including canal walks, parks and landscaping. The new development is at the intersection of Sheikh Zayed Road and the Arabian Canal; and will also complement Nakheel's surrounding developments including Jumeirah Park, Jumeirah Islands, Discovery Gardens and Ibn Battuta shopping mall.
