Will Atlantis be the Next Target after Marriot?

1 Oct. 2008 Several security concerns are raised regarding the safely of Hotels and Resorts around the world. Worries sustain after the recent bomb blast in Islamabad Marriot Hotel. Now, The Atlantis hotel's luxurious opening event is at the hub of a terrorism scare following British spies unveiling the terror plot to target the vibrant launch party in Dubai expecting the attendance of nearly 2,000 VIPs. Business giants, politicians, actors, musicians and members of the Dubai royal family have been invited for this gala. The source of clues of the feared attack was an internet chat room. The authorities have not yet confirmed the news. According to the Sky News TV, there are certain vital clues pointing at Al-Qaeda regarding the plans to bomb the event on Nov. 20 as the extremists see it as a symbol of profligacy in an Islamic nation. Estimated cost of this event is costing $28 million and will be piloted by pop princess Kylie Minogue. The launch of this lavish resort has become one of the most awaited events on the Dubai's tourism calendar. Some of the other celebrity names associated with this event are that of Beckham couple, Madonna and Michael Jackson. The Atlantis, located on the Palm Jumeirah, formally opened on Sept. 24, after a recent fire accident on 2nd Sept. that ruined the roof of hotel lobby and the outer side of the main hotel building. Earlier this year, Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom raised the terrorism threat level in the UAE to "high", warning places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers will be targeted by the terrorists. But no alarms were raised by the UAE officials and they fixed to statement that UAE is still safe as ever.
